MYSTERY MEAT!

That’s often what you get from the store these days.

  • Where did it come from?

  • How many different animals are in that ground (spoiler, it could be UP TO 1,000!!!)

  • Was my steak pieced together with meat glue?

Buying direct from the farmer, you know the answer to ALL these questions.

Often, it’s cheaper than you think.

Ground Up Ranch

Mrs. Ground Up grew up on a dairy farm in Embrun, Ontario, developing a passion for animals and later becoming an Equine Canada-certified riding instructor. She pursued degrees in Animal Science (McGill University) and Education (Ottawa University), eventually moving to Calgary in 2009 to teach.

Mr. Ground Up, a Calgary native, deeply loved the prairies and worked as a Red Seal-certified HVAC technician, running his own business. Despite his strong ties to the West, he made the life-changing decision to leave and embrace farming when the opportunity arose.

Their love story began at Ranchman’s in Calgary, leading to marriage on Mrs. Ground Up’s family farm. They built a life together and had two sons. When the opportunity to take over the homestead arose in 2024, they made the leap, fulfilling a lifelong dream.

Ground Up Ranch is committed to raising regenerative pastured poultry, beef, and sheep, with plans to introduce honeybees. Their goal is to provide high-quality, sustainable food while restoring biodiversity and promoting wellness for families.

Their journey is one of passion, resilience, and building a farm—literally and figuratively—from the ground up.
